Weekly Planning Meeting, 12/11

- Subject: Weekly Planning Meeting, 12/11
- From: Marc Stiegler <marcs>
- Date: Mon, 17 Dec 90 10:33:33 PST
Highlights 12/11:
This was a very productive week. The humongous congratulations
go to ravi, who completed miniSpire. MiniSpire is a subset of Spire large
enough so that developers could run very educational examples
with it. Indeed, miniSpire may be enough of Spire so that we
should declare it to be Spire Release 1 and ship it (as soon
as there's a usable backend to link it with, that is :-).
Big congratulations also go to roland, joel, chris, dean, hill,
hugh, paul, and rob and rick. Joel has a draft of a licensing
agreement with Key Logic that is very close to being mutually
acceptable. Roland finished the document exporter; we successfully
extracted hypertextual documentation for an xpp class, straight
from the source code.
Hugh can now delete as well as add linkends in the linkend window.
Chris completed the attribute system, which seems to be helping
a number of people; he also has the locking classes working,
which is needed to write to disk. Paul completed persistent hash
tables for montage. Meanwhile, rob and rick were able to link
montage to the server across the lan.
Last but perhaps most interesting, hill's grandhash sets worked
brilliantly when integrated by dean during his major effort:
Dean fixed up a fake urdi in smalltalk that goes to disk (for
testing). Consequently, though it's not the version that completes
our last milestone before shaking the world with a Very Restricted
Developer Release, we do have a version of the backend that writes
to disk--and even more amazingly, reads the data back in! :-)
Meetings: Paul, markm, derby. Ravi, marcs, spire. Dean, hugh,
strange bug. Markm, chris, null in pairs. Michael, dean, restart
in abrahams. Roger, marcs, trn news. Markm, michael, et. al,
hiding virtuals. Roger, ravi, where font info lies.
