Weekly Planning Meeting, 10/30

Highlights 10/23:

The big congratulations this week go to dean/michael, hugh, rick, 
and paul. Hugh got fm compiling on the Mac, and has a mockup 
of the Tapestry link pane under smalltalk using fm. Paul has 
semaphores working for Montage; rick has the notifier working 
even in the presence of errors (so we can use notifiers now to 
notifiy us of errors :-). Most unusual, Dean and michael not 
only eliminated rest homes (a critical performance improvement), 
they performed a critical management task.

What's this, you say? A management task? Yes: dean and michael 
figured out how to break up the write-to-disk problem so that 
we could have more people work on it simultaneously. Thank you 
very much, guys :-)

I and mr. hill would like to thank roger for an insightful proposal 
on merge policy: when someone needs to make global changes to 
the system, rather than trying to merge an image with those changes, 
go work with mr. hill directly on the "official" source.
