Highlights 6/19:
The big congratulations this week go to markm, hill, and
ravi. Ravi completed an exhaustive test suite for the Docs &
Links layer; in the process, he found a couple of bugs in the
ent, which is always a good thing :-) Meanwhile hill enhanced
the garbage collector so that it would work effectively and efficiently
while developers were using raw C malloc libraries; and markm
completed both the initial document of the public club, and the
changes of permissions properties by read clubs; (once again
beating his schedule :-)
I missed a big congratulations to bobp and sue last week. The
system overview is now published and available in quantity; we
are in the process of sending it out to the developers in our
contacts database.
A special thanks goes to bobp. Last week, I mentioned
my astonishment that Apple had responded so swiftly and alertly
to our problems linking on the Mac. Well, our best guess is that
we got this excellent service because bobp pushed the right buttons
over there. (Apple doesn't have a fix yet, but at least they're
working on it).
Last, but far from least, I'd like to bestow a special congratulations
on ravi for miracle working. When I created the last PERT chart,
I did something to ravi that, though it was technically sound,
it was morally outrageous: I cut all his time estimates in half.
I felt at the time that this was legitimate because ravi had
historically done such a good job of estimating time, and so
the slip factors I was using on everyone else were not appropriate;
still, I did not sleep soundly for weeks thereafter.
Well, ravi has vindicated me despite my perfidy: he is ahead
even of the heinous schedule I imposed upon him. Thank you, ravi.
