Some truly unfortunate news: Bill Bartley died last week, of cancer.
As both Popper's and Hayek's chosen biographer, as well as the editor
of their most recent books, Bill's untimely death is a real blow. Any of
you who have read The Retreat to Commitment, or Evolutionary Epistemology
know additional reasons for mourning his passing. He was also a charming man
and careful scholar.
I'm sad that most of us at Amix and Xanadu never had a chance to meet Bill;
and that he didn't live to see how much "applied" evolutionary epistemology
is expressed in the products we are developing.
It's clear now why he cancelled the seminar he was going to conduct at
our offices last year...
As some scholar recently said, "Death Sucks."
Yup.
