Highlights 1/16:

The humongous congratulations this week go to ravi, who completed 
interfacing docs and links through orgls & berts to the ent: 
he created a pair of text documents, ran a link between them, 
and, wonder of wonders, he traversed the link--just like hypertext! 
And just in time: I recently figured out how to implement linkless 
hypertext that works better than any hypertext system currently 
on the market (no, I'm not kidding, but, boy, isn't it wonderful 
that it's irrelevant? :-).

Big congratulations go to dean and roland. Dean has placed a 
lunch bet on the forward follow stuff (upgraded to dinner if 
you not only find a bug, but fix it), another lunch bet on the 
protocol for special behaviors in the ent, and a dinner bet on 
the splay stuff (these are all parts of the ent). Roland accelerated 
formic so that the preprocessing of our C++ files runs 50 times 
as fast as it used to, at least in the benchmark test.

Congratulations also to markm, who implemented all the startup 
clubs in the permission system (i.e., the clubs that have to 
be around when you first run electricity and mips into your xanadu), 
and to michael, who got vlad the sun4board running and working 
for markm and dean.

And I'd like to thank rick for showing us his demos of his first 
thoughts on user interface ideas for xanadu. Condolences go to 
him as well: last I saw, he was carrying a smalltalk book with 
him :-)
