    I'm going to try to start all my new threads with a precis of the
    contents.  Especially the long ones.  I'd like to always do it, but
    it's probably too difficult for replies.  If I remember to do this and
    other people start doing it, it will be easier for spectators to
    understand what's going on without being overwhelmed.
